However, two weeks ago, this was not the case! It was not-long-ago in a land not-so-far-away (Jericho beach to be exact) that EQO decided to have our very own beach barbecue! Amidst the sun and the sand, there was much fun to be had. In the hopes of promoting team spirit, there was a company raffle with fabulous prizes such as new orange iPod shuffles, gift certificates, a DVD player, and of course the world coveted Wii (which is obviously rivaled closely by the sturdy EQO umbrella). It was an afternoon full of suspense leading up to the final moment to the draw for the Wii. Not a single soul suspected a thing when the organizer of the raffle also happened to win the Wii. We were not suspicious at all.
Most people would expect the fun to be over once the Wii had been won. But once again, EQO pulled through with another idea! Seeing as this was a company BBQ with EQO friends and family, it was natural for us to hire some amazing face painters to join in on the fun. And it was from here that we decided that our next attempt to spread the EQO word should be no other than a guerilla marketing campaign. Armed with a paintbrush in one hand and the EQO logo in the other, we attempted to create the best street campaign that you have ever seen! This is where the story gets interesting: our fearless leader, Bill Tam, decided to lead the way and put up a challenge. Out of the goodness of his heart, he volunteered to put down $100 for whoever could leave the EQO logo on the longest and at whatever the cost (showering included...but we won't go into that).
The following morning, the winner was decided: Engineers Without Borders! How did that happen, you ask? Well since everyone agreeably decided to maintain their hygienic standards, we thought it would only be fair to donate the money to an organization who is dedicated to applying technology to improve living conditions in developing countries. In some ways, we at EQO like to believe that we share a similar cause to Engineers Without Borders in that we're also trying to break down barriers that impede the human condition. Now what are you waiting for? Go out and enjoy some sun already! Goodness knows we have. Christine |
