Would you like to test your unsupported phone with EQO?

There are minimum requirements for EQO--your phone needs to support Java applications (J2ME, MIDP 2.0 to be more precise), your phone needs to have a max .Jar Size of at least 220 KB, and you need to have full access to mobile data--but if you have a phone that is not on our supported list, and you think it should be, please let me know at support@eqo.com and I get you set up with a suitable file to test out on your phone. If you've tested out EQO on an unsupported phone before, please share your experiences here!

It seems motorola W385 partially supports EQO..

Hi,

I have recently downloaded the eqo software on my mobile phone, but I am facing problems working with it.

The phone I have is not in the supported phone list. I understand, but it would be nice if I could get to use your wonderful service.

I have a Motorola W385 mobile phone which has a CDMA technology. It has java in it.

I had downloaded the "other" option in the supporting phones list for motorola. The software when run, first brings a black screen with two options "select" and "exit". then when "select" is pressed, the eqo connects to its network.

then list of country comes, but I choose "options" and then "back" to go to another page where I get "sign in". then I have to type "user id" and "password". i click on "user id" to get into a white page where I type it. then to press "ok" which brings a black screen with two options.. "select" and "options.
I cant do anything now.. coz the screen is black and watever i press just keeps this screen the same black.. even if i restart the entire application. I see the same black screen with the two options of " select" and "option".

Kindly help me and let me know why is the interface black? i tried to download couple of other supported phones software.. but all have same issues of black screen..

Once after playing a lot with the buttons, I could get to the "password" space and typed my password. Then it logged me into EQO. i was happy. I then tried to add contact, again this time i had to type nick name.. first name.. last name.. mobile number etc.. but as I go inside to type in nick name.. when I come out.. i see the same black screen with two options of " options" and "call". I then can't do anything with the software.. than to reinstall it.

Atleast i could reach as far to Log into the eqo. So i think with little more thought given, even this model phone can be added to your phone supported list. You may help me know what should i do now.. or which other s/w would work.

Waiting eagerly to use EQO soooooon.

regards.

N78 connecting Problems (no APN choice available)

Hi there.

Got my N78 yesterday and installed EQO on it.
I tried downloading directly from the phone (by the SMS link) and also installing via USB and PC Suite, but either way I can't connect.

When I enter my Username and password it starts up, shows the contacts and tries to connect.

Then it says: "Error connection - please try again. Change APN if prolbem remains"

But when I choose "Access Points" in the Options (after I choose "work offline" after the error message") no menu appears to select an APN from.

Is this a problem of the N78 or of EQO?

My E65 would normally let me choose the connection I wanted to connect with prior to connecting to EQO, but my N78 doens't give me the option.

Do i need to set something up with the connections within my phone or is it a compatibility issue?

Thx for the reply.

two questions: Battery and Delivery

Hi,

was wondering if you could explain how messages are sent. Are the IM conversations actually sent as SMS (like some mobile IM services)? If not, what is ramification on batter life.

Interface is awesome, btw.

thx
J

EQO Windows Mobile 6 (eqomobile-wm-1.2.0) initial feedback

So, I upgraded Eqo Mobile to the latest version yesterday (over HSDPA while I was driving! :)

I had a strange graphics corruption after I first fired the app up - the Go Online text was missing from the left menu, and the top icons (messages / contacts etc) looks almost like a fruit machine which had stuck mid-way between symbols, but after a soft reset the icons came up fine and I've not had that problem since. Maybe the installer should suggest that you soft reset to complete installation.

However, more problematic is the data usage - like Palringo used to do, Eqo seems to ping the logon servers too frequently, resulting in extreme power usage. I left Eqo open for six hours (with the phone in standby, screen off etc) and I had less than 40% charge left from a 1500mAh battery (I normally get 25-30 hours out of a charge with regular usage, and this is on an HTC Hermes).

Also problematic is the handover back to data after finishing a call. For example, I load Eqo, dial a number via the "Dial Number" feature - tap in the number, press Call, the phone dials the Eqo 0207 access number and the call is placed successfully. However, when the call is finished, Eqo brings itself back to focus on the screen and attempts to connect again. Unfortunately, it gets stuck at "Connecting...", and no data is transmitted. Tapping "cancel" then tapping Go Online again manually makes it connect almost instantly. Sometimes, it just fails on its own, and you're left to reconnect manually.

When I was using Eqo to make long calls (>10 minutes), using a bluetooth headset as I was driving, I noticed that after finishing the call Eqo was obviously trying to connect but maybe trying too soon, as I was getting a standard Windows Mobile "the connection could not be established" style error dialog after the call had finished.

Maybe putting a hard delay of 1 or 2 seconds into Eqo so that it doesn't try and connect through the phone's data service until after the call is finished? Obviously Eqo's trying to reconnect immediately, but the phone's not coping with this handover very gracefully.

All these problems are reproducible, by the way.

Using an HTC Hermes in the UK with HSDPA 3G connectivity (and GPRS where there's no 3G coverage) in the UK on T-Mobile.

Very keen to beta test for the Palm Treo 700p - I had this working with the previous EQO, but unfortunetly you didn't indicate that the Palm was not supported by the new version, BEFORE you gave directions to delete from the Palm prior to upgrading. Bugger! But still keen to Beta test ... now.

Sony Ericsson P9xx users, share your experience

Today I installed EQO on my handy - P990i. I had no problem with the instalation, the program works just great and currently I can`t find anything to complain for. I had a phone call with a friend from Ukraine. The sound quality was good, we were able to understand each other. My MSN account works as well.

But when I tried to run it on my mother`s phone - P910, it just doesn`t want to connect, any suggestions what can be the problem ?

Palm Treo 700 WX

There are several versions of the Treo. The 650 and 680 are the Palm OS versions, the 700 comes in both Palm OS and Windows Mobile, the 700W/WX (WX is what I have) and 750 are Windows Mobile.

I have the ability to use Skype on the 700WX and would be interested in getting EQO to use on it as well.

Thanks
