Restore my home screen!

After I tried some chat programs, finally I decide to choose EQO for my Samsung i600 BUT finally I decided to completely remove EQO.

Why?

Because I can't remove the EQO button/banner (whatever) from the top my home screen. The option to remove is DISABLED! I really hate that and the only way to remove it is by REMOVING EQO.

Now, I have to decide which other chat programs that I will use.

Audio alerts to IMs in Windows Mobile needs options

I've been trying to use EQO for mobile IM and I'd rather not miss out on IMs so I enabled the audio alert option in EQO. When I recieved my next IM, the volume of the alert was a little too loud for my tastes (I have my phone profile set to vibrate)

Are there ways to adjust the volume of these alerts or preferably have it vibrate when it recieves an IM?

I have a Q9H Global

"EQO is not a valid Windows CE application" error message

After trying to install EQO on your phone, did you received a message that said “EQO is not a valid Windows CE application”? If so, try installing EQO via the EQO.exe file from your computer. To do this, sign in to www.eqo.com. Ensure that you have the correct version of EQO selected for your Windows Mobile device—that is, if you have a Pocket PC make sure that you have selected Pocket PC, if you have a Smartphone, make sure that you have selected Smartphone (If you are unsure of your device model, generally, a touchscreen device is a Pocket PC and a non-touchscreen is classified as a Smartphone). Then select the download to PC button. Next, open the EQO.zip file, find the EQO.exe file inside, and then save the EQO.exe file to your desktop. Then, connect your phone to your computer and open the .exe file on your computer. The auto-installer will then install EQO on your phone.

If you have further difficulties, please email me at peter@eqo.com and I will try to help you out.

Windows Mobile 6 Professional IM client crashes and will not lanch

I have been talking back and forth with support, but wanted to see if anyone else has this issue.

Environment:
Samsung SCH-I760
WM 6 Professional
Verizon Wireless/US

I install V 1.2 and it installs ok, etc. The today screen then has a blank row where the EQO plugin should be displaying data. I soft reset the phone (same results if I dont immediately soft reset) and go to Programs, EQO. The windows ball spins, the EQO logo in the corner comes up, then the EQO dies and back to the today screen and start menu. No errors reported anywhere.

Same thing with V 1.4.

Anyone have similar issues? Feedback to fix?

Thank you!

disconnection when programs runs in background.

Hi all..

First, thanks for the gr8 program. Finally I found a program which runs on HTTP protocol, since I'm using a limited WAP connection, and all other IM programs don't work. In fact, when I chose the TCP option in the settings, I can't connect anymore.

ANYWAY, I wanted to ask regarding a problem I'm facing using EQO on my HTC Trinity/P3600 WM6.1 device.

I can connect to all services successfully, but when I try to keep the program running in the background and get alerts for messages etc, the program immediately disconnects. This obviously limits the use of EQO dramatically.

Any idea on how to fix this? Is it a limitation of not using the TCP connection?

Thanks in advance;

Kamal

MSN issues

Hi there :) I use EQO on a Kaiser (WM6.1) successfully :) I have some issues though with MSN. First of all is that eqo doesn't show me the emails of my msn contacts. This is a problem for me because i have 3 contacts with the same name and i can't figure out who is who. Maybe an option to change the name appeared on my device only, could be a good solution ;) Another issue is that eqo is deleting the first lines of a conversation in msn after a while. This doesn't bother me as long as i know how often does eqo do that. If i don't read these lines will they be deleted again? Thank you :)

Problems

OK, i admit that i have eqo installed for just 40mins. But here is my 2 cents.
I was attractted by the features such as it support QQ and can be used under wi-fi. Even the lasted Mobile QQ2007 doesn't support wi-fi connection. So i install it, run it and oops.....eqo doesn't support Chinese. Half of my contacts which have Chinese characters can not be displayed properly in eqo. But that's not the end, when i wanted to add an im and i found out that eqo doesn't support QQ protocal. Maybe eqo on other platforms supports QQ but it's definitely not there on windows mobile. I have checked the homepage very carefully and i could not find a single line says that "QQ is not supported on windows mobile".
I am frustrated after trying eqo, because the feature ,i want to use and you guys claim, does not exist. I heard the new version is postpond to next week, so good luck for it. Maybe i will try again when the new version is out.

Just installed the program without any problems. Looks impressive, especially for beta! No problems with Yahoo and MSN IM accounts.
Connecting with no problems to Google and Jabeer, but can't see my contacts in either accounts? Any comments?
I only used the program for a couple of hours, so I'll hold other comments for now...

12 weeks of EQO Windows Mobile usage and no further upgrades!!!

It is really sad that EQO has not made any developmental upgrades to its Windows Mobile Beta after 3 months of user comments. I still face the same problem of disconnected GPRS after making a "EQO out call" from the phone. Then I have to restart the Data Connection to be able to use internet for other programs as well. However, call quality has improved, but I dont really want to restart the GPRS connection after making every Out call to make another call or continue with my messenger chats.
Do reply to tell your experiences over long term.
I hope a improved upgrade is on its way for Windows Mobile users.

Test on HTC Touch Cruise (P3650)

Phone: HTC Touch Cruise P3650
OS: Windows Mobile 6

Country: Italy
Carrier: Vodafone

Connection #1: WiFi via ADSL broadband (7megabit)
Connection #2: 3G via WAP apn navigation

Registration to the service: it went fine, i had no trouble.

Downloading the software: i've received a SMS containing the link to download it, *IT DIDN'T WORK* with the error message "unable to retrieve from this location". I've tried the same link on the PC and it didn't work as well. So i tried the link from the signup webpage (after completition) it doesn't work. In the end i've tried the button "Download to PC" and i finally received the .cab file on my PC.

Software Installation: no problems at all. It got installed smoothly.

First test (WiFi): works as expected, i've connected np, added my MSN account, tried test calls via VoIP. No problems so far.

Second Test (WAP): incredibly i had satisfaction even here, i were able to do "thing" were others have failed. As you know a WAP connection is pretty different than GPRS/UMTS navigation (and alot less expensive, because they expect you'll use it only for web navigation). I had to disable the "TCP connection" options (protocols under WAP aren't full supported), then i had a noticiable slowness (but still confortable) during the connection, apart this i were able to connect on MSN and (that's the incredible part) i were able to make VoIP calls via WAP connection. Connection to GTalk failed in this test .. i still have "Connectiong.." message and no connection.

Voice Quality: unexpected > pretty clear and with no delay .. and it remained the same even with WAP connection (alot less bandwidth).

Why i'm so happy? It's because i live in a country were a flat mobile connectivity simply does not exists (they are all time a/o transfer limited) apart these "wap" abbos, that are pretty cheap (from 3 to 9 euro per month). So with this im able to run MSN at zero costs (apart the monthly fees indeed) and im able to make calls (even on other countries and mobile) with a effordable price.

What i would like to have in the future versions:

- Possibility to import or better to "select" a phone number from the phone contacts, so i don't have to type duplicates there. I know this is possible, since other software are capable of this.

- Skype support, i'm not talking about the VoIP engine, but the IM client support at least.

- Possibility to select the connection type via software (someone already proposed this) since when i'm at home i would like to use my WiFi and not the mobile connection.

I have more ideas... but i may post em later. :D

Good Job! ;)

Installs, but no functionality

I install on a Samsung I730 running Windows Mobile 5. The install goes through just fine, and i've tried installing it to either a media card and directly to memory to make sure.

What happens is that everything seems to install fine, I get a blank today plugin (blank as in nothing in it at all) and if i try to run EQO, it shows EQO in the title screen for a few seconds while the windows loading icon shows, then it goes back to the today screen.

Checking the memory setup, it does not show EQO running at all, so it seems to be crashing on startup.

Any ideas?

My results of testing EQO on WM6 (HTC Tytn 2) and WM5 (HTC 9100)

For the record. I love your program. Nice and simpel and good looks. My comment is just to help you making things better.

Signing in on the EQO site:
To download/install EQO i had to sign in. The first time, i choose a name that already exists. The problem that then occured was that the slide bar on the right was disapeard. I coudn't go down the page to alter the name.

Installing EQO:
When installing EQO, the installer on my mobile ask me if i wan't to add EQO to my home screen. When i select Yes I get the message : "Unable to add EQO to current Home Screen. Please contact EQO support for this issue". This occurs on my Tytn 2 and my 9100.

Using EQO:
I used 2 phones. One of my wife (HTC 9100, WM5) with her EQO account and one of mine (HTC Tytn 2, WM6) with my EQO account.
Both phones are connected by Wifi, our home WLAN (Linksys WRTG54).
EQO is active on both phones and the EQO accounts are online (connected).

Every time I start EQO I have to import my contacts again. After I close EQO I loose all my contacts in EQO (exept for the online EQO contacts). This occurs on both phones.

Windows mobile 6. In the EQO contacts my wife is shown with a green bubble. When i choose to call her i can choose from Call Mobile, Call Work and Call Home, "EQO call" is not displayed as an option. When i choose for example "Call Mobile", It looks like my wife is called by the phone application (not VOIP) not by EQO. When i close the phone application EQO is trying to call the contact but doesn't succeed.

Windows mobile 5. In the EQO contacts of my wife, I see myself with a green bubble. When i choose to call myself i can choose from " EQO Out" and "Direct call". When i choose "EQO Out", It looks like my wife is calling me with the phone application (not VOIP) not by EQO. In my wife's phone there was no working SIM inside so you can't call mobile with it. WM5 gives a message that there can't be any calls because there is nog signal. When i close the phone application EQO is trying to call the contact but doesn't succeed.

I did succeed in calling a none EQO contact with EQO on my Tytn 2 (connected by Wifi). There was € 0,02 of my EQO account. But i realy think that this call was also made by my mobile phone application. So I think my mobile provider will charge me as well for the call.

I hope my comment will help you to improve EQO.

Windows Mobile Beta Survey--Win an iPod Shuffle

Ever since we have started our Windows Mobile Beta program, we have been receiving some excellent constructive feedback from our testers. Thank you very much!

I have been collecting, summarizing, and sharing your comments and suggestions with our product team for the last few weeks. And, while this has been pretty effective for getting some bugs fixed, I think that an even better way to get the great ideas on here closer to reality would be to submit them all in a survey. Let me tell you, product/marketing people love their surveys (so much so that they have authorized an iPod Shuffle giveaway for one lucky survey-taker).

Please take the time to submit your comments and suggestions on our Windows Mobile Beta. These are probably the best odds that you will ever find to win yourself an iPod Shuffle...

Peter
EQO Customer Support

requests and feedback findings tested on tytn and artemis.

Hello EQO members/moderators and staff,

First i want to say this app lookes really good and maybe with my request it might look even better:-)my Tytn uses gprs and 3g connections
and the artemis uses gprs.

Here goes on both Tytn and artemis running wm5 have the disconnect issues but i saw that's mentioned already.
Then i want to do future requests for some features i miss in this promising app:

1. Automatic updates

2. Voiceclips for msn/Talk function for google talk

3. Ability to see emailaddresses of contacts in IM
(my contacts change their names allot)

4. Ability to see emailaddresses in contacts

5. Ability of vibration when new message arrives inbox and outbox (for the discreet times)

6. Send files and photo's in IM

7. it would also be nice to add visual voicemail

I like the interface of the program and the way it works nice and smooth the nudge is also a great addon. The way it communicates is also the first when you call it doesn't go over the speaker but instead it's just like an normal phonecall. It actualy is a normal phone call but at least it's not mobile 2 mobile wich still is cheaper.
I wish EQO the best in becoming one of the better IM/voip around for mobile phones.

Good luck,

Lesley

Windows Mobile Devices have Touchscreens - Bigger display buttons would help in quick use

First to do (this is not an advert of Yahoo GO 2, but its good to have some thing to compare with) reviewing the display of new Yahoo GO 2, for Windows Mobile will help to see how bigger tool buttons helps people with PDAs and their Touch Screens.

EQO for Windows Mobile though is nicely designed, it's not 100% in terms of finger input. Tapping on navigation buttons is fine with me, but it feels good when i have a choice of touch input. Which is not accurately possible with a very tiny Y! or MSN butterfly is flashing on top.

However, its not 100%, but it sure is 95% in terms of display (including the today screen plug-in).

GPRS or Wi-Fi selection is a must (Connection Errors!!!)

Most Pocket PCs or Smart-phones with Windows Mobile are already filled with many connection options. So if EQO has a option to choose from a particular internet connection, it would be great. I hope it is not a impossible challenge for EQO developers. (Suggestion: try reviewing Skype for Windows Mobile)

EQO on Windows Mobile 5 (well, on my phone, Which is a MDA-Vario from T-mobile UK) losses its connection even after I make international call using EQO out-call option. This I think is happening because the GPRS connection is lost or is paused in middle of a call. So what happens is EQO on my phone is not able to quickly connect back to the network. Result is a Connection Error!!

Automatic Upload of all Phone contact should be Optional

On installation all my contacts were uploaded automatically. It would great if you have a option where users are asked to choose which contacts they want to add to their EQO contact list.

You can also throw in a selection tool if the user decides the added contacts to be invited automatically or searched if his contacts are already EQO members.

Keeps Disconnecting

I downloaded the latest version 2 days ago and it still has the disconnect problem mentioned by others. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it, as it will remain connected for hours at a time, and then just randomly disconnect. Are there any sort of debug logs that I could upload/post to assist in troubleshooting this problem?

I'm using an HTC Kaiser (TyTN II) on the Rogers network in Canada with HSDPA. I really like this app and have been waiting for a cheap long distance solution for quite some time, so for making calls it's not a big deal as I can always connect quickly. However for EQO to EQO calls being offline presents a problem.

Handy suggestions to keep your rig from crashing with EQO Mobile WM Beta installed

1) Make sure you have overclocked your rig to the max setting with an OMAP/ARM overclocking program

2) Shut off anything that starts immediately within EQO upon turning on your rig...

a. Start EQO
b. Loft Softkey "Options"
c. Settings
d. UNcheck "Start EQO in Online Mode?"
e. UNcheck "Auto Start EQO Mobile."
f. OK
g. Wait a few seconds while it changes the registry settings
h. Exit Program or hit home key

3) Remove ANY programs that you no longer use in either Java or WM as they tend to hog up the phone memory upon start up within the registry load... especially the LARGE crappy .GIF files in the internal storage within the My Documents folder as they look horrid and do not display properly while eating up memory your phone could be using for other things

[Many of these files can be stored and run off your removable storage device.]

4) Search around in the My Documents for files related to streaming. They might be small scripts, but they add up after a while!!!

How does doing this help?

1) It allows the phone to startup more easily and prevents lag until you can overclock your rig to handle the extra load on the processor... which as a CYA function will automatically turn your phone off and reboot it if overtaxed

2) It allows you to more easily use streaming functions and internet applications as the taxed out processor and memory will prevent you from using basic tools such as PIE, Opera, or WMP Mobile

3) It will prevent major lags and freezes

Hope this helps you all.

Can't Connect - and small menu comment

I may be being stupid here, but assuming my phone is ActiveSynched to my PC's internet connection, can I use that to connect to EQO? Or do I have to go through some sort of GPRS connection?

I'm using Windows Smartphone 2003 on an Orange E200, in France on Breizh Mobile (s virtual mobile company buying in from Orange)

Also, when I go to Settings I get the list, but there's nothing to show which of the settings I happen to be changing, the Font's always white and the background is black, nothing changes to show which one I'm on, the only way to know is to count how many times you move down and just click and see which setting changes.

It's nice to get EQO Mobile on my smartphone based on windows mobile 6, hope EQO cheap calling will be available in China Mainland soon and expect simplified chinese version released officially. There is a huge market in China!

Can't install...

I'm using an HP iPaq 6340, (Win Mobile 2003) and can't install EQO. I don't receive the text messages, (have tried the "resend" button) and if I try the get.eqo.com link from the phone, it asks me "Download the 769 bytes file 'My Documents\' to the 'My Documents' folder in Main Memory" If I answer yes, it obviously can't create the file - it thinks it's the same name as the folder - and if I tell it to save elsewhere, it wants me to name the file, but I don't know what the downloaded file should be called to allow me to run it afterwards...

If I try a download to the PC, it still won't install, with the error message "Application Manager cannot install the application on your mobile device due to an invalid setup file. Reinstall and try again".

(Later) - a CPU issue I suspect - the iPaq has a Texas Instruments OMAP 1510 CPU, not the ARM type... Correct?

Possible login issue

Just installed app. Used it for total of 2 minutes so no real feedback yet. Looks very nice...

It seems like the login screen doesn't strip trailing spaces from the username. I had issues logging on, then noticed there was a space after my login name. Probably want to parse those out :)
