Works on Motorola A1200
Submitted by rfurno on December 20, 2006 - 10:07pm.
Thanks to Chris, I was able to make EQO work on my Motorola A1200. And best of all: with plain wap connection from T-Mobile USA! Trackback URL for this post:http://community.eqo.com/trackback/715

Indeed, this is good news. Did you have to install the Entrust certificate I send you? Also, aren't you on the internet2.voicestream.com access point and not T-Zones? I believe that T-Mobile users on T-Zones will continue to have problems. Chris T-Mobile USASubmitted by rfurno on January 4, 2007 - 7:47pm.
Just for the records: I use the plain web access from T-MobileWeb (not T-Zones), which costs about $5/month. No need for internet2.voicestream.com. Chris: I see that I can now download another beta version of the A1200. Is that more recent than the one you e-mailed me on 12/20/06? Here are the details of the version I have: RE: T-Mobile USASubmitted by chris on January 5, 2007 - 8:34am.
Nope, same as what I sent you before. I thought we'd let others give it a try too. I'm pleased to hear that you are connecting via T-MobileWeb, the first I've heard of someone doing this! Can anyone else connect via T-MobileWeb? Since EQO Mobile currently uses a TCP connection, many basic internet plans don't allow it to connect. This will all change when we revamp our connection/transport mechanisms in the new year. Thanks again, Chris T-Mobile RAZR v3Submitted by ahgorey on July 12, 2007 - 12:02pm.
Any news on getting access with a razr using t-mobile? re: T-Mobile RAZR v3Submitted by peter on July 12, 2007 - 4:09pm.
There have been a few reports of people getting around T-Zones proxy and making a connection. The only way for you to know for sure would be to give it a try yourself. Please let me know how it goes. Peter T-mobile razr and 3rd party programsSubmitted by ahgorey on July 18, 2007 - 12:06pm.
FYI: This new policy is probably what is impacting EQO. "T-Mobile has recently changed their policies and now tell their customers with appropriate data plans and with Java-Micro-App-capable T-Mobile phones: no third-party network applications. You can, of course, still use their incredibly clunky and crippled built-in WAP browsers, but GoogleMaps and OperaMini are left high and dry. Would anyone care to speculate if this move is likely to retain or repel customers?" ISSUE 1 - Some T-Mobile phones have a firmware lockout on the phone preventing third party apps from accessing the Internet. This is the problem I saw on the Nokia 5300, Nokia 6133, Samsung T519 and Samsung T809. This has NOTHING to do with which service plan you choose; it is a block that T-Mobile builds into the handset. It applies only to T MOBILE BRANDED models of a growing list of NEW phones. ISSUE 2 - INDEPENDENTLY and SEPARATELY, T-Mobile has been doing port blocking on the $5.99 plan in some metro areas to prevent other phones which CAN run unsigned third party Internet apps from accessing the Internet with those third party apps. This blocking seems to be inconsistent, affecting some metro areas and not others, which is why people are having trouble nailing it down. This is done at the NETWORK level not the handset level. NON ISSUE - None of this affects smartphones such as the Dash, Blackberry or Sidekick, using the $19.99 or $29.99 Internet plans. re: T-mobile RAZR and 3rd party programsSubmitted by peter on July 18, 2007 - 3:13pm.
Thanks for posting that. This sums up the problem with T-Zones nicely. My question, why does T-Mobile have to hate so much? Cheers, Peter Topup applicationSubmitted by handyman1 on December 3, 2007 - 5:04pm.
Hi,I dont know if anyone can help but I hope so,I recently bought my motorola A1200,my problem is that I am a vendor of direct topup for the company for which i work.Direct topup is where you can send credit to a customer's prepaid mobile phone through the use of sms text messages, however the ming doesn't seem to support the topup program. it will allow you to install the program but when the information is entered and you click send,it says sending but the credit never goes to the customer's phone. I am told that the phone doesn't support sending texts from third party applications.Someone please help.My email address is coolforlife@hotmail.com if needed. re: topup applicationSubmitted by peter on December 3, 2007 - 5:40pm.
You should try doing this with EQO Out SMS. Since our messages go out over your data connection instead of as SMS messages, it might be a workaround to use. Peter |
