Trouble on a E65 Nokia with firmware 2.0633.65.01

Hi All!

I am an EQO user since many mounths. So few days ago, I decided to install the symbian versus in addition of my java version. So I tried the 1.2.0 version and the 1.2.1 one too. My issue is : when I try to login, I fill the eqo user field and the password field. Then, when I click on "OK", the application crashed and I go back to the application menu.

My cell phone is a Nokia E65. With *#0000# I get the following information :

2.0633.65.01
03-10-07
RM-208
Nokia E65 210.12

Do you have any idea?

Anyway, the java version is still working like a charm (a little bit slow but I am living with) ;).

Phil

Did you by chance install the new version over the old version? I know this is common practice, but the upgrade process for our beta versions isn't super smooth right now. I recommend completely removing the EQO Symbian beta from your phone and reinstalling into phone memory (not memory card) from get.eqo.com/symbian on your mobile browser.

Please let me know if that works for you. If not, we'll keep looking into your problem.

Hi!

I have just unstalled EQO Mobile for symbian AND EQO java. Then, I visited the get.eqo.com/symbian page thanks to the usual nokia browser and I re-installed the symbian version. And finally, same bug : I entered my eqo-ID and my password. Then, when I clicked on "OK", the eqo client crashed. So I uninstalled it and I re-installed the traditionnal java client.

So, it doesn't work on my E65 cell phone. Anyway, my cell phone is in French. I don't know if this information could help for something.

Regards,

Philippe

Hello Philippe,

This does indeed sound like a bug and it could be because your phone is French Language. We will look into this and get back to you as soon as we know more.

Thanks for reporting this,

Hi Chris !

You may be right. This morning I turned my cell phone in an English Language. And know I can click on OK. Then I can choose an APN. But neither Wifi Hotspot, neither data plan allow me to connect on EQO service :(. Plus, I noticed that the TCP ON/OFF connection disappears from the settings. Is it possible to add this menu please. In France it is important to avoid too expensive data plan.

An other useful option may be a "hide" option, which minimize EQO application for example if you want to take a picture ;)

Regards,

Philippe

Surely a bug!

Thanks for giving that a try Philippe, you have surely found a bug! We will get a Nokia E65 with the French language pack on it and give it a try.

The TCP/HTTP selection shouldn't matter too much, unless you are referring to billing. EQO tries to find and use the best connection. Are you charged more for TCP than HTTP?

As for "hide" you should be able to use the Symbian menu button to exit the app without quiting. We did not implement this because of that button.

About TCP/HTTP connexion, there is a different billing in France. With the option "Orange Surf" 6euros a month, you get illimited surf on internet throught port 80.
When I use EQO with a TCP connexion, it is charged out of the "surf data plan". So, if the box is unchecked, it is included in the plan ;). That's why it may be useful, at least for French users.

But there is something wierd with HTTP connexion. For example, when I use talkonaut program, with "http binding" connexion, it is charged out of the "surf data plan" too. Maybe the way you use HTTP protocol is different. No idea. But yours is better to me ;)

About the "hide" option, thanks a lot for this trick ;) I didn't know that the menu button can be used to exit an app without quiting ;).

Philippe

Hello Philippe,

You are welcome for the menu button tip, that is indeed handy. I'm glad we don't need to implement hide now!

Thank you for explaining the http/tcp issue to me in France. We will look at putting that option back into the client. We just didn't think anyone would rather use HTTP over TCP, but now we get the cost issue.

Hi !

I have tried the 1.3 release, and now it works : I can use the EQO services. But in French, there is a trouble about the caracteres / symbols. Words doesn't appear in a nice way.

I am still using the java client, because you don't put back the http / tcp option :p.

Anyway, nice job ;) The symbian client is SO FAST !!!!!it is a news experience :D

Phil

Hi Phil,

I am glad to hear that the latest Symbian is working better for you.

As for the French accents not displaying nicely...that is a bug. We will fix that up for the next release (should be in the next week). Thanks for reporting that!
