how to make client work with yahoo and windows messengers?
Submitted by p38 on January 17, 2007 - 11:24am.
Looks like the client is working but I don't see any way to setup access to my IM accounts. I thought this was supposed to allow you to IM people on yahoo, msn/live messenger, etc... Any ideas on what the navigation steps are to do this? Trackback URL for this post:http://community.eqo.com/trackback/745
Adding IM accountsSubmitted by peter on January 17, 2007 - 1:29pm.
From the EQO Mobile Home screen, select IM Services, then select Menu, and then select Add New. Peter I think I have a bugSubmitted by p38 on January 17, 2007 - 3:30pm.
I created another account and installed EQO on my Treo 650 with the JVM. It ran really slow on the Treo 650 but I was able to add my yahoo ID and talk to some contacts. I didn't try any others but they were all there (MSN,AIM, etc). In my MotoRazer V3m it actually runs faster but when I select IM services; click Go To; I see a prompt to "Select Type" but only see an icon for Skype. I don't have any option for a menu but if I click the right hand button (with title select) it brings up an "IM Account Details" window with Service Type of AIM/ICQ. I can't change the service type and unfortunately don't have or care to have an AIM account... If I cancel and go back and reselect Skype I get the following error (may have some typos): java.lang.NullPointerException on at javax.microedition.lcdui.List.callKeyPressed(+94) at javax.microedition.lcdui.Display$DisplayAccessor.keyEvent(+198) at javax.microedition.lcdui.Display$DisplayMangerImpl.keyEven(+11)at com.sun.midp.lcdui.DefaultEventHandler.keyEvent(+121) at com.sun.midp.lcdui.DefaulEventHandler$QueuedEventHandler.run(+182) re: I think I have a bugSubmitted by peter on January 17, 2007 - 5:12pm.
Yes, you have indeed found a bug. Thanks for notifying us! When you downloaded EQO Mobile, we accidentally sent you the wrong file. If you clear your browser cache and re-download the file tomorrow, everything should work fine. Let me know how it goes. Peter RE: updateSubmitted by chris on January 18, 2007 - 10:59am.
We've fixed the problem now. Please download the correct version of EQO Mobile for your Motorola V3m. Remember to clear your browser cache first. Let us know how it goes and if you have any problems. Chris not sure i have downloaded correct one this timeSubmitted by p38 on January 18, 2007 - 2:28pm.
I deleted EDO from the applications area then re-downloaded the software three times (once this AM, noon, nad again just now... All three times I have downloaded what looksto be the same file (by the size). Each time it did appear to download again. I don't know if I am somehow downloading frome cache. I went through every menu of the phone that I could find and didn't see a purge/delete cache option. FYI, my phone software version is 24.2_00.37.00R; Not sure what to do at this point and/or how to fluch/clear the cache (if there is any) Resetting your browser cacheSubmitted by peter on January 18, 2007 - 2:57pm.
To reset your browser cache: from the main menu, select Internet, then select Internet Settings, then select Browser Setup, then select Reset Cache. I can do this on my KRZR, I assume that the procedure is very similar/identical on your RAZR. Let me know your results. Peter At a lossSubmitted by p38 on January 23, 2007 - 5:07pm.
I don't have those options and went through every menu to try to find a cache setting. I also went out searching on RAZR forums with no luck. I am not sure what to try next. I have deleted the app and reloaded. I even created a new user and re-downloaded the app under that user with no luck. Maybe Sprint locked down that menu so we couldn't purge cache... Is this working on any RAZR v3m phones? Any ideas on what I can do to make this work? re: At a lossSubmitted by peter on January 24, 2007 - 8:42am.
Try selecting Menu > Settings > WEB ACCESS > Browser Setup > Reset Cache. Peter still at a lossSubmitted by p38 on January 24, 2007 - 4:06pm.
I push the center "hat" button that seems to match the circle "M" on the picture on the phone screen. I then select "settings". I do NOT see anything like "WEB ACCESS". I do see something named "Power Vision" but it only allows it to be enabled/disabled. I am at a loss. Is it likely that Sprint hid that for some reason? Can you put the application into another location or name it different or something that will treat it as a new file and not pull from cache? re: still at a lossSubmitted by peter on January 25, 2007 - 8:49am.
I don't have access to a phone with a similar to set up as yours...did your phone come with a manual? Does your carrier's Web site contain any online manuals? Peter still at a lossSubmitted by p38 on January 25, 2007 - 11:54am.
checked all the manuals/books and Sprint website with still no luck. Can you put the application into another location OR name it different or something that will treat it as a new file and not pull from cache? re:still at a lossSubmitted by peter on January 25, 2007 - 1:11pm.
I'm guessing that you could download the application to your desktop, rename it there, and then upload it to your phone from the desktop or via an Internet upload site. Give it a try and let me know how it works. Peter uploaded and downloaded - still issueSubmitted by p38 on January 27, 2007 - 8:50pm.
I used my PC browser to login and download. Still same issue/bug. Note: each time I have always downloaded the same bytes to the phone. The version on my PC that went to my phone is 0.94.4 & was 224KB in the properties (I roughly remember the download being 159K). I got this same file under my first login (P38) and my second login (reP38). Are you sure the correct version, that fixes the bug, has been put out there for the Motorola RAZR v3m? Do we know any other RAZR V3x's that this is working on? Do we know any other RAZR V3m's that this is working on? If you can email me both the .jad & .jar that should work I can upload/download and test it and let you know. re: uploaded and downloaded - still issueSubmitted by peter on January 29, 2007 - 11:19am.
Make sure that you are installing EQO Mobile on your phone's memory and not on your SIM card. Send me an e-mail (peter@eqo.com) and I will get you the files to test. Peter re: uploaded and downloaded - still issueSubmitted by p38 on February 10, 2007 - 2:45pm.
Sent you an email (if you didn;t get please check your filters). I took out the mini-SD card to be sure it isn't being loaded there. The app shows up just just like the original app I downloaded. I have been deleting it before re-downloading and/or sending it to my phone using 3rd party tools. I don't know much about SIM cards. My phone is from Sprint and doesn't have a removeable SIM card. If there is something to check please let me know. re: uploaded and downloaded - still issueSubmitted by peter on February 12, 2007 - 4:15pm.
I've sent you the files. Let me know how it goes. Peter thanks but still no goSubmitted by p38 on February 14, 2007 - 8:06pm.
Thanks for sending the file but it looks like I have the same exact effect. It looks like that is the same file I have been using these last times. I have them on my PC and they look the same. Do we know if any other v3m's this is working on? Are those v3m's also on Sprint? Any other ideas or next steps? re:thanks but still no goSubmitted by peter on February 15, 2007 - 1:44pm.
Sorry, my bad. I forgot to change a line on the .jad file. I've done that and sent you the proper files. Let me know the results. Peter .jad mod did not fix it. next steps?Submitted by p38 on February 18, 2007 - 12:33am.
Thanks for sending the file again with jad mod but it looks like I have the same exact effect (see java exception above). Do we know if any other v3m's this is working on? Are those v3m's also on Sprint? Any other ideas or next steps? If you can get this working I think you will have tons of Razr users. re: .jad mod did not fix it...Submitted by peter on February 19, 2007 - 11:54am.
Hi again, Yes, there are other Sprint V3m EQO users. I too would be interested to hear about their experiences with EQO Mobile. So, please post your EQO Mobile + Sprint V3m stories here! Peter Thanks for all the effortsSubmitted by p38 on March 2, 2007 - 3:05am.
Peter, Thanks for the many emails back and forth for the efforts. It was nice of you to contact other Sprint V3m EQO users (though most were using the Skype rather than the multi-IM. It was heartening to hear that there were at least one or more Sprint V3m users that could get the multi-IM features to work. I appreciate you working with me to re-try the V3m load with various settings and even a V3 load. Unfortunately none of these worked on my phone and it is time to give the phone away so I can't test further. This phone is a gift for a family member and their birthday is here so I am out of time... Thanks again and I do have to give you an A for effort. I would have liked to have been one of the testers of the month :) re: Thanks for all the effortsSubmitted by peter on March 2, 2007 - 11:13am.
You're welcome. Thanks for all of your work too! I'm sorry that we couldn't get EQO Mobile to work for you. I also feel bad that you lost out on the Beta tester award for February--this month's competition was another closely contested battle. Don't despair though, you can always try again (with your Treo) when we release our next version! Peter Windows MessengerSubmitted by liam101 on June 26, 2007 - 6:07pm.
Hi, I have icons on my BB 7250 for Yahoo and Google Talk which link me to downloads but dont have one for Messenger. I did see on the Blackberry site this is application is not installable via USB and must be dowloaded from the mobile site, but there is no link or address that I can see.... Any suggestions? Bill re: Windows MessengerSubmitted by peter on June 27, 2007 - 10:04am.
Hi Bill, I don't know the answer to that specific question...but, you could use EQO Mobile to IM your MSN contacts. Once you start EQO Mobile on your BlackBerry, you can scroll over to the IM tab and add your MSN account there. Let me know if you have any more questions. Peter |
