Getting Connected
Submitted by peter on May 21, 2007 - 8:24pm.
EQO Mobile connects to the EQO servers via TCP, meaning that you need a GPRS, 3G, EDGE, 1X, EV/DO, HTTP or Wi-Fi connection on your mobile to connect with EQO Mobile. You will not be able to use EQO Mobile with a WAP browser. To get your phone properly setup you may want to make use of these resources if you have a Nokia, a Sony Ericsson, or a BlackBerry device. If you have a different type of device you'll likely have to call your carrier to get setup or setup your device manually. To setup your device manually you will need the Access Point Name (APN), username, and password for your carrier and service plan, some GPRS APN Settings available here. To enter the settings on your phone you will usually have to create and enable an access point or data account on your phone. We have documented how to do this for some popular phones on our forum (Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Motorola, BlackBerry). If you have a different model you could read your phone's manual or search online for instructions if you are up to the challenge. If not into manual setup, contacting your carrier or searching your carrier's website for help is always a safe bet. Known Issues: -The T-Mobile T-Zones and Cingular MediaNet plans do not allow EQO Mobile to connect. -BlackBerry users need to have a full data plan and BlackBerry OS 4.1 or 4.2. -Nokia Phones will continually prompt users to allow EQO Mobile to send/receive data, to fix this go into your Application Manager and change the network access settings for EQO Mobile to "ask first time only". Of course, if you have questions, select the Support tab and submit a support request or search the forums because chances are someone else had your problem and we've already helped them out. Hi, The reason that you couldn't sign up for Nepal is because we don't have a version of EQO that works on your phone (Nokia 7610) in Nepal yet. We are working on this version right now and I expect that it will be released within the next few weeks. Cheers, Peter Help - Can't connect to EQO on Sony Ericsson K800i - A0002Submitted by ruiyanzhao on October 17, 2007 - 1:25pm.
Hi When I tried to connect online on my K800i, I got a connection failure - A0002. I've just got the settings from Sony Ericsson website and it still doesn't work. I've also tried changing the settings manually still no good... Thanks a lot. I'm on UK 3 network. Rui re: Help-Can't connect on Sony Ericsson K800iSubmitted by peter on October 17, 2007 - 2:25pm.
Hi Rui, Let me try to help. Which settings did you manually configure? Peter Peter, Thanks for yourSubmitted by ruiyanzhao on October 18, 2007 - 12:03am.
Peter, Thanks for your response. I downloaded the jad and jar files to PC and trasferred both to my phone and installed using the jad file. I set the APN to three.co.uk and username and password both as "guest" as suggested in one of the links in your article. One doubt in my mind is that I can't seem to set my phone to use GPRS only. Under the preferred Services in Data Comm menu, I have only two choices: ps&cs or cs only. Any ideas? Thanks again for your kindness. re: Peter, Thanks for yourSubmitted by peter on October 18, 2007 - 8:29am.
Rui, One thought, try getting rid of "guest" and just leaving those two entries blank. It should be fine if you are set to use both ps&cs. Peter re: Help-Can't connect on Sony Ericsson K800iSubmitted by ruiyanzhao on October 19, 2007 - 12:53pm.
Thanks for your suggestion. I tried that before but it didn't help. re: Help--SE K800iSubmitted by peter on October 19, 2007 - 1:50pm.

This may be the problem...do you use any other Java applications that connect to the internet? Peter Connection Problems on 02 ActiveSubmitted by antichristtelevision on October 30, 2007 - 5:17am.
Hi, I cannot access EQO Mobile on my phone which I recently switched to 02. I have all the right settings and can access the internet fine but I can't use the program. I kept getting a 1010 error or and error talking about data headers. I only get the data header error one if I disable TCP. re: connection problems on O2 ActiveSubmitted by peter on October 30, 2007 - 9:31am.
You need to make sure that you are using the Web settings for 02 (and not the WAP settings): APN address: mobile.o2.co.uk Are these the settings that you are using? Peter EQO works in Nokia 9300?Submitted by sandheepk on January 14, 2008 - 2:40am.

Sandeep, Try to enter some internet settings for your phone. APN: etisalat.ae You could also try to get the settings from Nokia: https://nokiags.wdsglobal.com/standard?siteLanguageId=118 Make sure you request the Internet ones, not the WAP ones. HI, I would try to download the "Internet" settings form Nokia one last time. If that doesn't work, then call your carrier (Cellone) and ask them about your internet settings on your account. Sometimes they need to activate the service before you can use it. Peter re: Conn problemSubmitted by peter on February 11, 2008 - 3:43pm.
Hi, This could be because you are using an http connection. If you switch to a TCP connection, it should be more stable. First, try to log on to EQO and the change the setting to a TCP connection manually under Option, Settings. If that doesn't work, then you may need configure a new internet connection on your phone that uses TCP connection. I'm sorry to say that I don't understand. Could you please clarify your question? Chris SE connection probs - a solution?Submitted by chrisl on April 19, 2008 - 5:12am.
I've just got a SE W890 on Voda UK and couldn't get Eqo to work on it, however I discovered that with some SE models at least there is a way round it without getting confused with manually entering Internet settings: * Make sure you install BOTH .jar and .jad files onto your phone (If it doesn't download OTA, then download to your PC, and transfer both these files to your phone from your computer). * On the W890 and probably other SE models, under Internet Settings you can choose "Contract (Or PAYG) WAP" and "Contract (Or PAYG) Internet". On Voda UK, Live is accessed by choosing "Contract WAP" (This connects to Voda's GPRS/3G networks). However, Eqo is only accessed by selecting "Contract Internet" (Also to GPRS/3G I think...). So now I access the mobile internet via "Contract WAP" and manually select "Contract Internet" when using Eqo. I asked Voda about this and they said it was simply because Voda doesn't officially support Eqo. All I know is that doing this works. Hope this helps people! re: SE connection probs - a solution?Submitted by peter on April 21, 2008 - 10:41am.
