Free IM?
Submitted by vincentcheung on November 16, 2007 - 6:37pm.
I am a T-Mobile customer. Although I have the unlimited Blackberry data add-on, so that I have unlimited email and web use, IMs use (Yahoo messenger, Google Talk, etc.) and considered separate, so they are charged per message, or I can pay extra for a plan to get 400, 1000 messages per month, etc. My question is, does the EQO gets around this and uses my Email/Internet data plan to transmit and receive IMs, so that now my IMs become "free"? I am unsure about this even after reading all the information on the web site. Thanks. Trackback URL for this post:http://community.eqo.com/trackback/1092

Our IM is "free" in the sense that we do not charge you for the service. Our IM service uses your existing data plan--that is, it works over the internet. You will have to pay your provider for the internet data that is used when you IM with EQO as per the terms of your agreement with them. EQO IM will NOT use up your text message or IM message allotment. Peter So, the EQO uses the APN ofSubmitted by icezw3rg on November 21, 2007 - 6:57am.
So, the EQO uses the APN of the service-provider (e.g. t-mobile, vodafone etc) and NOT the BB-APN? re: so the EQO uses the APNSubmitted by peter on November 21, 2007 - 2:55pm.
EQO tries to use the BlackBerry APN first, then it will check for any others. You can also change whether EQO will use a TCP or HTTP connection by changing your Settings within the application. Peter |
