First Impressions on Treo 650

Thumbs Up guys !!! Got it installed on Treo 650. Made one Skype out call as I did not have any Skype contacts to ask to call me at this time. So far so good. Comments: 1. The Mobile App. UI needs lot of improvements. Specially the standard Palm OS Edit functions should be provided (Cut,Copy,Paste). 2. Need to have support for 5-way navigation pad for the two buttons on the bottom of the screen. It is very annoying to press screen and then use the 5-way pad for other functions. 3. The screen keeps flickering on some views. Do not know why. 4. The Call # screen needs much improvement. The first digit you enter appear off the input window. Will be testing this in the coming days. Will add more to this list. jk

RE: First Impressions on Treo 650

Thank you very much for your feedback. We are still working on Treo 650 usability and will definitely take your comments into consideration. As for the flickering, please go to "Prefs" in the menu and you should see "IBM Java VM" under "Other". Go into these settings and make sure "Use Double Buffering" is checked. This should help speed up the application.

First Impressions on Treo 650

Chris,
First, Thanks for your help in getting the Treo 650 up and running. My first impression is simple. The program worked and the voice quality was very clear, but there was a delay around 3 seconds from transmit to receive! The supporting PC was running on DSL. Get the delay down and I'm sold!

RE: First Impressions on Treo 650

I'm glad you managed to get EQO Mobile going. The delay you are experiencing is a result of Skype connecting the two legs of your call. It takes time for SkypeOut to call your mobile, unless you are talking about a different delay?

RE: First Impressions on Treo 650

Chris,
The delay I am talking about is the actual time when I say something into the phone to when it is actually heard on the receiving end - about 3 seconds. It did take about 10 seconds to connect, but of course, that is not a problem.

RE: First Impressions on Treo 650

Wow, that is really slow. Another Treo user has mentioned something similar; I'll have to investigate further. Voice should definitely be in real time, very comparable to a Skype call.

Yeah, just to let you know,

Yeah, just to let you know, I had about a 2-3 second delay as well, and if I accidentally talked over the other person it kind of garbled what he was saying for a second or two. Made it very choppy.
Also, is there an option to turn up the volume skype-wise? I turned the phone volume up to the highest, but the signal i got through the skype was very quiet.
BTW, I am NOT complaining. I think this is a stellar product and one a lot of us Treo 650 users have been waiting for for a LOOOOONG time. Just want to help!

Treo 650 Voice Problems

Once a Skype call has been connected to your Treo 650, EQO is no longer in control. The call is now completely controlled by Skype. There is not much we can do about this. Try making a conference call between a Skype buddy and your mobile? If the same delay exists, then it's out of our hands. As for volume, your system volume and the volume of the Skype buddy you are in call with determine what you hear on your mobile.

issue

Each time call is completed, EQO doesnt come on. I have to go to menu and open up EQO again. Before my phone rings there is notice that once call hangs up click ok to end call, but when call hangsup I am at phone menu. I cant find how to bring EQO back unless go back to menu and start it from scratch. Any solutions???

RE: issue

Unfortunately there is no solution for this at the moment. The IBM Java Virtual Machine (JVM) quits whenever a call comes in to the Treo 650. The only way to go back into EQO Mobile is to start up the application again.

Also whenever there is pop

Also whenever there is pop up notice (like alarm or sms) and I click on any button, it reacts with EQO. And there is no way to cancel it. Like last night I had EQO on screen and my alarm pop window came on screen. To snooze I click on snooze button on pop up window for alarm notice and when it disappeared I see EQO is on window where it tells me that "EQO will ring your contact and skypeout to your mobile....." with options "Dont show again" and "Continue". To cancel call and dont get skypeout charge I had close EQO and open it up again.Pop up windows option buttons shouldnt effect on EQO program at all.
Also option button should be accessable with option button on Treo650, infact you can hide options menu on right upper corner as all Palm softwares do and place IM chat button in place of option button.
I hope these minor things fixed in next update it will be easier to use EQO.
Thanks.

RE: Also whenever there is pop

Thank you very much for your comments. I'll pass them on to our mobile developers and they will hopefully provide fixes in the next version of EQO Mobile for Palm Treo 650.
