aim does not display contacts

Hi i have no problems connecting and even tried checking and unchecking the tcp connect but none of my aim contacts show up even when i'm connected. The only way i can get my contacts to show up is if i unclick the hide offline im contacts and even then it says that all my contacts are signed off when they're not. Does anyone know a fix to this problem?
