I am now on myspace
Submitted by colin on August 19, 2006 - 1:26pm.
I am no stranger to online communities but finally decided to join the big dog and created my profile on myspace.
My new place on myspace is still pretty barren. As I was going about to "hang up" my first picture, a visitor "Sanoe" had already dropped by, requested to be added as a friend, and left a comment "You live close to my home town". Pretty cool! I just got a new "friend" simply because I happen to live in Vancouver. But I am not going to try to compete with Tom who currently has 93 million friends on myspace.
I am not into pink wallpapers or pictures of metal chains for the background of my profile page. So I am looking for some cool "fixtures" to put in my new place on myspace. I thought some of the new FLASH-based widgets are pretty cool and catchy. I am going to personalize them a bit and then put them on my profile page.
I am no longer a teen with hours of free time each day sitting in front of the computer posting, editing, and removing comments to keep my space tidy. What I really would like is a message board, almost like a palette, which I can control from my mobile phone, just like a remote control. That way, I can scribble a note when I was almost near the top of the Grouse Grind hiking trail last week so that visitors who peep through the door on my space can see "Grouse Grind conquered". I do not need to control my whole place just like I do not need to control my refrigerator and stove from work - certainly not from the tiny keypad of a mobile phone. But it sure would be nice to be able to put a message on a cool "fixture" on my space so that it is not so stale while I am away from my PC.
It would be nice too if the visitors to my space want to send me a note of encouragement to my mobile phone. Would be even nicer if they can wirelessly send me a real-time coupon for a leg massage!
